East Suffolk is gearing up for a thrilling cycling celebration as the Lloyd’s Tour of Britain Men returns to our region on 2 September 2025 and we’re kicking things off early with a special East Suffolk Sportive on Sunday 31 August! Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or simply looking for a fun day out, there’s something for everyone, from scenic cycle routes to family-friendly entertainment at Kingston Field in Woodbridge.
Take on the Challenge: The East Suffolk Sportive
A sportive is a mass-participation cycling event open to riders of all abilities, giving you the chance to test yourself on a fully supported, marked route. Choose between a 50km scenic loop (£20) or a 100km challenge (£30), both starting from Kingston Field and winding through the stunning East Suffolk countryside. Riders will benefit from broom wagon support, feed stations, clearly signed routes, free downloadable photos, a goodie bag, and a customised t-shirt.
Entry fees also support Suffolk Mind, a local mental health charity. Plus, early bird riders who sign up in the first two weeks will be entered into a prize draw to win either two VIP hospitality tickets to the Tour of Britain or a signed jersey, perfect for any cycling fan.
50km Route: Clopton – Charsfield – Wickham Market – Tunstall – Rendlesham – Melton
100km Route: Includes Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Saxmundham & more
Start times: 100km from 08:00am (sign-in from 07:30), 50km from 08:30am (sign-in from 07:45)

Not taking part in the ride? Come along anyway and enjoy a brilliant day out for all ages at Kingston Field!
Families and spectators are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grass , free access to tennis and pickleball courts, and a range of games and activities for children and adults alike. There’s even a Family Fun Ride for those who want a gentle spin of their own.
It’s the perfect way to soak up the buzz of the Tour of Britain and be part of East Suffolk’s celebration of cycling — whether you’re on two wheels or cheering from the sidelines.
